POETRY, PHYSICALITY, PROVENANCE
( THE DINNER ART PROJECT )
( THE DINNER ART PROJECT )
A tasting event, in collaboration with Barney Bau, commissioned by hARTSlane Gallery.
Featuring two ingredients kindly donated from local allotment plot holders: tomatoes, leeks, creating 3 different dishes with the same ingredients.
This event explored different ways of activating food and eating as practise for developing intimacy in ingestion. Thinking with each moment of eating as an opportunity to connect, inquire and negotiate with food as it mingles with our bodies and nourishes us.
Each hour, a new ‘dish’ was served, prompted by different themes: Poetics (the reading of a sensorial poem, and inviting people to write memories, events, people and places that flavours evoked), Physicality (inviting people to eat with their fingers, led through a guided meditation of mindful eating), and Provenance (dried seeds from the very tomatoes used in the dish were offered to guests/eaters)
